Thoughtful gestures, glasses of bubbles and an upgrade, displays such exceptional hospitality, from a stay at the Shipquay. The staff greet you with such enthusiastic and heartwarming welcome. The personal Birthday message and treat plate made our visit so personal and special. Each member of staff make this hotel inviting and warm, in today's world, hospitality is not always as personal and natural as it is in this Hotel. The location of the hotel and boutique quality, makes it a place we most certainly would choose in the future. Beverley, Sophie and Wendy

Exceptional Stay at Shipquay Hotel, Londonderry My recent stay at the Shipquay Hotel in the heart of Derry's historic walled city was nothing short of magical—a perfect blend of warm Irish hospitality, thoughtful touches, and prime location that made our trip unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect. Upon check-in, we were greeted with a complimentary glass of bubbly, setting a celebratory tone right away. The hostess was a gem, offering spot-on recommendations for local gems like the lively pubs on Waterloo Street for traditional music sessions and cozy spots for authentic Derry cuisine—her tips led us to some of the best live trad sessions we've experienced. The front desk clerk was equally proactive, guiding us to the ideal parking spot to sidestep any city-center hassles, which gave us peace of mind with our vehicle. Our room was a cozy haven, impeccably clean with plush bedding and those delightful welcome pastries that hit the spot after a day of exploring. The hotel's boutique charm shines through in its historic building, blending modern comforts with nods to Derry's rich heritage—think exposed stone walls and views toward the city walls, just a stone's throw from attractions like the Guildhall and Museum of Free Derry. Breakfast the next morning was a standout—one of the finest I've savored in Ireland. The full Irish spread was fresh, flavorful, and bountiful, with options from hearty Ulster fry to lighter continental fare, all served in a bright, inviting dining area. The staff's attentiveness elevated it further; they were supportive and engaging, even offering post-breakfast mimosas as a cheeky extra that perfectly capped our meal. It's these little luxuries—the bubbly welcome, pastries, and mimosa surprise—that make Shipquay feel special without ever feeling pretentious. What truly sets this hotel apart is the genuine care from every team member, creating a home-away-from-home vibe in a city buzzing with history and culture. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Derry—whether for the walls, the peace bridge, or just soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. We'll be back!

One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed. Stellar service in every interaction, everyone was so very accommodating. And a very generous free room upgrade and glass of bubbles on arrival! Very comfortable good sized room, very clean, great lighting in the bathroom. Be sure to get breakfast too, the service is phenomenal and the quality of ingredients really stands out. Great location in the heart of Derry. Would definitely stay again when back in Derry.

The receptionists were so friendly and accommodating. Beautiful hotel and great location. Walking the Derry walls was easy from the hotel. Had an amazing dinner nearby at Blackbird and drinks at Peadar O’Donnell’s. We absolutely loved Derry!

This hotel is a gem that needs a bit of updating. Carpet in the room was worn and shower was subpar for the rate we paid. Everything else about the hotel is wonderful. The stellar team provided warm and wonderful customer service and the restaurant food was excellent. We would stay again on future trips to Derry.

Unbeatable location right in the middle of the town and we were made to feel so welcome from the minute we arrived. The staff are top class. The Diamond room was perfect. Look forward to going back again and again.

To single one person or element out as outstanding would be unfair as my stay as a whole was thoroughly fabulous. Every staff member I interacted with from Bar, Restaurant, Reception, Night Porter, every single one was kind, welcoming, helpful and while remaining professional and courteous the staff are obviously encouraged to remain "human" and so friendly on a personal basis. The personal touch toward the guest is very much appreciated in the form of a welcoming glass of fizz at Reception on check-in, the personalised welcome note and sweets in the bedroom upon arrival. Little touches like these, at little cost, helped to perfectly off round the experience as a whole. Breakfast was simply amazing, an ample choice of made to order options and predictably for me I chose the Walled City Fry-up which was fresh, tasty and of course locally sourced. In addition, your efforts to reduce single-use plastics in the form of choosing not to offer little plastic containers of milk is very much to your credit. This is a small but very important gesture. All things considered, I can say you deserve nothing less than 10/10 which I am happy to give.
